FJ Studs: A 1:1 Substitution for Solid Sawn
Still unsure about using finger joint studs instead of solid sawn? You're not alone — but the facts are clear.
CureWood’s SPS-3 Certified #2/btr and Stud Grade FJ Lumber is fully approved for the same structural applications as solid sawn of the same size and grade. That includes:
Vertical load-bearing walls
Shear walls
Interior & exterior framing applications
Our finger joint studs are strength-tested hourly and meet CSA 08-19 standards. Even though the final dimensions are slightly smaller (e.g., 1-7/16" vs. 1-1/2"), their structural performance is identical.
Bottom line: If you can use solid sawn, you can use CureWood FJ.
